I often have people come to me asking this question. I don’t know my niche, or I don’t know what I am supposed to do… I want to start a business, but I have no idea what that is…

If this sounds familiar, and it’s you, I want to share 9 steps that you can take to identify your real calling.

Firstly, if it’s your calling, you will know and feel it in your body. Your whole being will be excited, and you will be vibrating with a sense of joy, anticipation and a deep knowing that whatever it is that you have embarked on will feel just great. I emphasis on the word feel because you can feel it. It isn’t in your head…

How do you identify if it’s in your head? You will be doubting whether it is what you should be doing. You somehow rationalise and decide you should be doing it because it is a logical decision. You have a lot of logical reasons as to why you should be doing it.

How do you then get to this stage of full alignment and knowing without a doubt that it is your calling because right now – it feels like you have no clue…

Let me list down a few steps that might help you uncover your calling.

Let me relate all the points above to my own story and in that I hope you can also relate and uncover yours.

1.       What are your greatest accomplishments?

3.       How would it feel like to declare to the world that you will be doing this?

For me, my greatest accomplishments were when I achieved top sales in my company. Which is why I thought that I should be a sales coach. I also had my dream job and pretty much for most of my career, attending interviews has been a breeze. I rarely not get a job once I get to an interview and I landed on my dream job before I quit where I held a regional post, marketing and selling in collaboration with mega consulting firms. So I thought I should combine sales and career coach.

Although I had this checkbox ticked, I have not been able to answer the most important question. Question no 2 - Does it feel right?

When I applied the acid test, and tried to imagine myself declaring to a group of strangers that I am a sales coach, even in my imagination, I felt very uncomfortable. Same with career coaching. I just could not imagine myself to be one..

Because deep inside, I had no desire to be a sales coach nor a career coach. I later discovered that in truth – I sold my soul for my pay check and deeply resented that although on the surface I tell myself to be ok with it. It was what I had to do. Must do. Should do for survival.

Dig deep… because you really need to dig deep beneath the surface…

I have always secretly wanted to be my own boss and I recalled when I walked into someone office – usually one that belonged to a female entrepreneur, there is this feeling of awe. That it will be nice to have that… But as usual, I immediately asked myself to shut up as I need to work and be corporate and the fear has always been, or my belief is that I cannot make money as an entrepreneur.

That has a lot to do with my dad and because my dad was an entrepreneur that did not make end meet, my perception was entrepreneur cannot make money. Now logically I know entrepreneur can make lots of money. There are lots of entrepreneur I know are multi- millionaires and billionaires but somehow logic does not rule here. It’s my deep-rooted system of belief that rules the way I behave, think and feel.

The greatest lesson in life that I had to learn was and is an entrepreneur can make money. And I needed to get rid of the belief that I cannot make money as an entrepreneur. With that, I decided that my calling is really to help entrepreneurs make money but in a soul aligned manner.

6.       What are naturally good at that people often compliment you…

7.       What are your skillsets?

Often times when you are good at something, you will overlook it, so it may be best to ask your friends or to make a mental note of all the compliments you get.



I am naturally good at making something complicated simple and doing it in the fastest possible way. I have an eye for design and putting colours together. I love to write, and I love to do presentation and speak. I am naturally good at sales. It comes naturally to me and the only time when I am quivering is when I start to think I am not… I am a natural strategist. Great at marketing ideas… Technical having been in Information Technology for 30 years.

Do write yours as you will uncover things for yourself that perhaps you never even know or noticed. The list I have stated above wasn’t something I was aware of initially. In fact, I always thought I don’t have anything to offer and I don’t know what I am good at…

8.       What in your life experience has prepared you for your calling…

For me, I was very surprised that my 30 experience in Information Technology has been equipping me to be an online business coach. I am a certified style coach which has helped me to do branding and inner image ( the inner stuff that needs to be healed ).

Having spent the last 6 years in marketing and sales has helped me to be a business coach as the crux of any business is marketing and sales.

You see for me, when I finally decide that I want to be a business coach. I realised that I was firing on all cylinders. I was using my skillsets in technology, sales, marketing, branding, positioning to my advantage. All the elements that a business coach needs.

To top it off, it was also no co-incident that I spent the last 6 years in analytics. Analytics is crucial to increase ROI in sales and I specialise in selling these systems.

When I looked back at how I am fully equipped now to do what I do, I am amazed… Everything fits in perfectly, nothing is wasted.

I believe that when you step into your purpose and calling, you will have your unique story and how all your experiences would help you to step into your calling.

9.   What are you naturally passionate about?

I am now passionate about helping soul aligned entrepreneurs to transform lives, make a difference and impact the world. It is so crucial. Having spent 30 years doing what I think I should do because it is what I ought to do, I want to make it count now that I am on my own.

No rules to follow. I make the rules. And so, can you!!

What are you passionate about. What’s your life story and usually your mess is your message.

Your passion is that fire in your belly. You want to do it and it’s a calling greater than yourself. It’s something that lights you up.

It is also something you are naturally gifted at. In fact, you are very good at this stuff. Which is why it is your passion.

Soul alignment is where abundance flow. You work from a place of joy and fulfillment.

What is the fuss all about?

Why would you want to do a business that is on passion and purpose? Why not just pick anything that sells or supposedly is a hot cake and just sell? For me and if you are reading this, for you it is important that you are in soul alignment because that is where abundance flow. You are in flow. You work from a place of joy and fulfillment. It is an amazing place to be.

I hit more than 10K in my 5th month after my rebranding in my soul aligned entrepreneurship. Your business takes off in a completely new level. That's what it means to be soul aligned. Success is inevitable.
